Each Scout can have multiple interfaces.  A single Scout interface can supply network data to multiple collectors associated with multiple zones.  However, a Scout never communicates data across zones.  Zone A cannot share data with Zone B, even when zones have collectors interfacing with the same Scout.

To add a new interface to your Scout via the VMware vSphere Web Client, do the following:

  1. It is recommended to Power down the Scout VM.  Issues may occur adding a NIC card to a powered on Scout VM.
  2. Select the Scout to which you want to add a new interface card.

  3. Click VM Hardware > Edit Settings.

  4. In the New Device field, select  the Network option and then click Add.

  5. Assign the new Network Card to your preferred VLAN.
Your NIC has been successfully added.

  6. Log in to the Scout CLI as a superuser (often admin is a superuser).

  7. Run system reinit.
This will enable you to configure the interface card.
