Each Scout can have multiple interfaces. A single Scout interface can supply network data to multiple collectors associated with multiple zones. However, a Scout never communicates data across zones. Zone A cannot share data with Zone B, even when zones have collectors interfacing with the same Scout.
To add a new interface to your Scout via the VMware vSphere Web Client, do the following:
- It is recommended to Power down the Scout VM. Issues may occur adding a NIC card to a powered on Scout VM.
Select the Scout to which you want to add a new interface card.
- Click VM Hardware > Edit Settings.
- In the New Device field, select the Network option and then click Add.
- Assign the new Network Card to your preferred VLAN.
Your NIC has been successfully added. - Log in to the Scout CLI as a superuser (often admin is a superuser).
- Run
system reinit
.
This will enable you to configure the interface card.
