A Lumeta user with superuser privileges can enable a pre-login message that displays a notification provided by your organization. The banner typically serves as a system use warning that only authorized users are allowed to enter and that use of the system is restricted and monitored. However, the banner text is supplied by your organization and therefore can be populated with whatever announcement might be pertinent in your workplace.

Lumeta users who click Accept will then receive a login prompt. After login, the security warning will not show for the duration of the session.

A banner can be applied to a Command Center, a Portal, or a Scout component individually.  On Portal or Command Center, the security banner can be enabled or disabled from the GUI or the CLI.  On the Scout, the banner can be enabled or disabled only from the CLI. It works in congruence with PKI-encryption and two-factor authentication (TFA).  The security banner is disabled by default and therefore will not display on a standard or upgraded installation of Lumeta.

Regarding the text you supply, are a few things to know:

  • Lines of text will wrap automatically.
  • To start a new line, press Enter.
  • Use bold type or all caps to simulate a title line
  • If you enable the banner in the GUI, it will display in both the CLI and GUI.
  • If you enable the banner in the CLI, it will display in both the CLI and the GUI.

Configuration

To configure via command-line interface (CLI) or system console:

  1. Click Submit to process your text entry or text upload.

  2. Toggle the Enable Banner Display switch to "On".
The security banner processes and displays for users whenever they access a component on which it has been enabled.
