License Acquisition

The lifetime of your Asset Manager license starts when you activate the system––the first time you log in after the license is applied. Asset Manager will issue an alert notification in advance of any system use that conflicts with your license agreement. The warning may indicate that your system is approaching a limit in terms of the number of licensed active IPs or Scouts allowed on your  system. Or it may indicate that the term of your license agreement is approaching expiration (at 90% of lifetime) and must be renewed. These warnings will not diminish the functionality of your system, but they will become more frequent as licensing limits approach.

If you see a licensing warning while using Asset Manager, please contact Support.

After a courtesy grace period, an expired license enforces constraints, all of which can be eliminated by renewing your license with Asset Manager. Specifically, you will not be able to perform the following:

  • Use the Asset Manager CLI, except to import a license file.
  • Use the Asset Manager browser interface, except to import a license file

If you find that you cannot use the system after log in, you've waited too long. Call us promptly to expedite a license update.

Once a Asset Manager system has been deployed and initialized in your workplace, begin the license-activation process. This process involves providing your system identifier to Asset Manager Support, importing the license key they return to you, and activating your license via the Asset Manager CLI or Asset Manager browser interface.

Here's the procedure in detail:

  1. Browse Admin or Settings > Asset Manager Systems > System to display the Universal Unique Identifier (UUID) of your Asset Manager system.
  2. Perform a copy-and-paste function of the UUID to include it in an email message and send it to one of our support teams:
    • If you have instantiated Asset Manager via Amazon Web Marketplace (AWM), contactAsset Manager Support. to begin the license fulfillment process.
    • Otherwise, send your UUID to Asset Manager Support. In response, Asset Manager Support will send you a message containing your license key file (or place the file in your account folder)app.
  3. Put the license file you receive from Asset Manager in a location that can be accessed by SSH
