Deploying the RedSeal Plugin

RedSeal has developed a plugin for users of the RedSeal and Asset Manager systems. This plugin permits network information ingested from Asset Manager to be used on the RedSeal Network Modeling and Risk Scoring platform. The plugin file, named "Asset Manager-8.5.1-b4.jar" is available on the right-hand side of this page.

The process is as follows: 

  1. Download the RedSeal Installer
  2. Install the RedSeal plugin (Asset Manager-8.5.1-b4.jar)

Download the RedSeal Installer

To download the RedSeal Installer from the RedSeal server:

  1. Browse to the RedSeal server (172.16.42.11).

  2. Accept the “RedSeal End-User License Agreement."

  3. Click  Install Client.

    The JNLP file (resSeal.jnlp) downloads.

  4. Click redseal.jnlp to install the RedSeal client.





  5. The RedSeal client Home page opens.

Install RedSeal Plug-in

To install the RedSeal plugin (Asset Manager-8.5.1-b4.jar) on your RedSeal client, follow this procedure:

  1. Open the RedSeal client.


  2. On the top left select the menu Admin->Plugin->Upload Plugin
    Dialog box will appear as shown below. 
     
  3. Select the location of the file (Asset Manager-8.5.1-b4.jar) and click upload.  Once the upload is complete, click the Close button. 

Setting Up a Data Collection Task

  1. Open the  RedSeal client home page as shown below, select “Data Collection” tab and click the “New” button on the top left.

  2. Select the radio button Data Type  “Other.”

  3. Choose the Asset Manager Plugin and Asset Manager API as the Communication Method.

  4. Enter a Task name.
    You can leave the Proxy blank if your RedSeal does not need to go through a proxy server to reach Asset Manager.

  5. Enter the IP address or DNS for the Asset Manager server.

  6. Enter the Group name that will appear in the Maps & View once you select the Asset Manager Data Collection view.  This will be created and refreshed every time you run the data collection task.

  7. After the credentials are setup then click on the Save button to save the Data Collection task.
     
  8. Below are the steps for setting up the credentials:
    1. Click on the plus button next to the Asset Manager Credential to open another dialog to create the Asset Manager user credential.
    2. Enter a name for the credential
    3. Enter a User Name. 
    4. Enter Password/Passphrase (this will be the API key that is generated on the Asset Manager server). API key can be generated on Asset Manager box with cli command "user key new <username>"
    5. Enable Password can be left blank.
    6. Click on the Save button to save this credential.

  9. Once Detail tab is configured, these tasks can either be run on demand or scheduled using Schedule tab. 


  10. Once the Data Collection task setup is completed, there will be an entry shown in the “Data Collection” tab as shown below.

  11. Click on the task to highlight it and click on the “Run” button to execute the task.

  12. Execution is completed the Last Run Status tab shows as below.

  13. The Import Status tab will provide additional information regarding the data collection task execution.

  14. Group name that configure above is showing in the Maps & View tab.
